About

The International Workshop on Autonomous Systems Safety (IWASS) is an invitation-only event that gathers key experts in autonomous systems safety from academia, industry, and regulatory agencies. IWASS aims to identify common challenges related to safety, reliability, and security (SRS) of autonomous systems, covering autonomous maritime, marine, land vehicles, and aerospace systems, and to discuss and propose possible solutions for the identified challenges.

IWASS 2022 - August 2022, Ireland

IWASS 2022 will be held on August 27, 2022, in Dublin, Ireland.

The European Safety and Reliability Conference (ESREL) will have a Special Session and a Panel dedicated to IWASS.

ESREL is the key annual event for meetings and knowledge exchange in the area of risk assessment, risk management, and optimization of the performance of socio-technological systems in Europe, and among the most important internationally.

IWASS 2021 - April 2021, Online

The second IWASS was originally planned to be held in Los Angeles, U.S.A., in March 2020. Due to the Covid-19 pandemics and travel restrictions, the event was delayed until 2021. The second IWASS was held in April 2021, online. Proceedings with a summary of the discussions are available for download here.

IWASS 2019 - March 2019, Norway

The first IWASS took place in Trondheim, Norway, in March 2019. Proceedings containing a summary of the discussions and research papers are available for download here.

Operational Safety For Level 4 Automated Driving System Fleet

FUNDED BY USDOT NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION

About

Project in cooperation with Transportation Research Center Inc. (TRC) and ToXcel. The project has a period of performance of 2 years. It aims to identify safety risks associated with Level 4 ADS Mobility as a Service (MaaS) operations and the fleet operator's responsibilities and activities to mitigate such risks. Professors Ali Mosleh and Jiaqi Ma will serve as the PIs and Co-PIs of the project, and Dr. Marilia Ramos will serve as the Principal Researcher.

To identify the operators’ operational safety responsibilities and propose risk mitigation actions, the team will perform a risk assessment of ADS MaaS operations. The project tasks include:  i) conducting hazard identification of Level 4 ADS MaaS operations, ii) performing risk assessment, iii) identifying fleet operators’ operational safety responsibilities, iv) proposing activities that could help fleets mitigate risks and achieve operational safety responsibilities, v) evaluating the mitigation activities.

In the consulting industry, each situation is unique and requires a specific set of solutions. For this project, I helped my client define the ideal outcome for the situation, and through strategic planning we were able to achieve a great end result.

New Product Introduction

With this project, I helped my client set up a short term plan with long term benefits. I then provided expert advice and strategic planning to help them with implementation. Would you like to learn more about my services?
